Now that, what everyone should have already accepted as fact, tanning beds have been confirmed to cause cancer; people are searching for other options. You know we can’t live without that golden bronze that we love so much, so how do we get it now. Tanning beds are out. The sun, which we love as its the energy source for so many great things, is also harmful. There has to be some way to safely get tan.
Spray tanning is now emerging as the #1 option for people that want to be health conscious but can’t dare live without the tanned look. Spray tanning has been around for quite awhile, but has seen its popularity soar in recent days since the bad news about tanning beds hit the wire. Salons are reporting that their phones have been ringing off the hook with people requesting spray tan service.
Spray on tanning can be done either at a salon where they usually have you step into a booth that sprays the mixture on you, or it can be done at home with the purchase of a special spray tan gun. The home guns come in many different price ranges, and that reflects the many different levels of quality you can expect to sign. Many salon’s offer a home service, where they come to your home with a gun and spray you there.
When you get the spray tan done, you can expect it to last anywhere from 7-10 days. Its pluses are the ease of application and that it saves you from the harm that exposure to the sun or tanning beds causes.
Spray tan does not cause any harm to your skin because it doesn’t penetrate deep enough. Its basically acts the same on your skin as some makeup. It doesn’t penetrate the epidermis, so it can not enter your bloodstream. One thing the experts recommend is to remember to exfoliate before application. That way your applying the spray on top of new, fresh skin.
The drawbacks to the spray tanning method really just come down to matters of personal preference. Detractors argue that it doesn’t look as natural as the tanning beds, and that it tends to come off on your clothes a little bit. These are things that each person has to determine for themselves.
There is also some talk about how some of the chemicals in the spray tan might not exactly be the healthiest things you could put on your skin. That seems obvious to me though, of course where talking about chemicals here. If your really a total health nut, then your really left with no recourse if you want to have the tan look. A tan look is not your body at the tip top of its health. The healthiest safest thing to do is just to go out in the normal sun during non peak hours wearing sunscreen. Its not going to get you that golden bronze look though. If that is the look your going for, you need some help.
There are self tanning creams that are available as well. From the people that I’ve talked to that have tried both, I’ve found that they almost all agree that the spray tan comes out a whole lot better. Applying it is so much easier than the cream, which is almost impossible to get even all over your body.
So if your looking for a safer alternative to the tanning beds and harmful UV rays, you might as well give the spray tanning a shot. You can probably get it done in at the very same place you went to for the tanning beds. You won’t have to worry about skin cancer, and its quick and easy. If you like how it looks, then go for it.
